A 12-year-old cancer victim left a secret note to her family on the back of her mirror telling them to ‘make the most of every day’.
Athena Orchard’s family were stunned to discover the heartfelt note written before their daughter lost her battle with the terminal disease on May 28.
‘Every day is special, so make the most of it,’ she wrote.
‘You could get a life-ending illness tomorrow so make the most of every day… Life is only bad if you make it bad.’
She added: ‘Happiness depends upon ourselves.
‘Maybe it’s not about the happy ending, maybe it’s about the story.
‘The purpose of life is a life of purpose.’

Don’t let other voices change your Mind.
Don’t let suffering tender your Heart.
Don’t allow other people rule your Life.
Don’t let your pain affect your Actions.
Don’t stick to what you know, explore what you don’t Know.
Don’t be a follower when you are destined to be a Leader.
Don’t allow the negative opinions to suffer a new Experience.
If you are unable to see the light, then you are unable to overcome Fear.
If you live your life through another person’s eyes, then you would be unable to see what you can Accomplish.
If you don’t do what you want to do then you would forever experience of what could have Been.
If you fight for what you feel is right then you would always feel like a Winner.
Worry about you,
I worry that my dream won’t come true.
I worry that God didn’t see it through.
I worry about you.
I worry about the painted thoughts people have drawn about you.
I worry about the paths you take, the movements that you make.
I worry about you.
I worry that you don’t see the love I have that I have for you within.
I worry about you because you are unable to see yourself the way as I do.
We live in a world where everyone needs a shell to protect themselves.
I worry about you because you won’t let me be your shell.
I want to look after you, wake up to you, tell you that you look beautiful.
I want to love you, grow with you, be with you.
But you won’t let me because you say the past is something that you just can’t undo.
That’s one reason why I worry about you because you allow the past to haunt you.
You say that I don’t need to worry about you because you are fine,
But what you don’t understand is that’s the hardest thing you have ever asked me to do.
